Notes for new members...
1. Club rides are normally around 55 to 60 miles with a cafe stop around half distance. The Early Birds ride is about 30 to 35 miles with no stop getting you back home mid to late morning. All rides meet in the Market Square, Bishop's Stortford, Early Birds at 8am the Steady and Hard Riders at 9am.
2. Remember that you should carry at least two spare inner tubes, a pump, tyre levers and ensure you are clothed for the time of year. A rain cape should always be carried, a mobile phone can be a useful addition.
3. Check your bike over and ensure it's roadworthy. Tyre condition and well adjusted brakes are important points to bear in mind. During the winter months you will need to fit mudguards and a rear mud flap to limit road spray in the group. Experienced members will be happy to advise on how this can be achieved on most types of bike.
4. Because of limitations in the clubs insurance we must ask rides who do not have Cycling UK (CTC) or British Cycling (BCF) cover to join the Bishop's Stortford Cycling Club after 3 club rides.
